Welterweight contenders Devon Alexander and Amir Khan will meet in a 12-round bout on Dec. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Golden Boy Promotions announced the fight last Friday.
The bout will be the headliner in a Showtime-televised tripleheader that also will include Keith Thurman defending his interim welterweight belt against Leonard Bundu and junior middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade defending his world title against Jermell Charlo.
This matchup was scheduled to happen last December but after being far down the road to finalizing the fight, Khan abruptly withdrew. He chose to pass because he believed he would be Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s May opponent.
Mr Mayweather chose Marcos Maidana instead.
The winner of the fight is likely to land a fight with Floyd Mayweather next year.
