Famous for its spectacular shows, luxurious hotels and lively casinos, Las Vegas is the ground zero for wild fun and gaming action. The city is the vacation destination where you can indulge your high-roller fantasies, especially on The Strip, which is famous the world over.

The Strip is a never ending source of wit and improbability as it is where you can hit the big times on the turn of a chip. For many years the north end of The Strip was known as the less fashionable end, but with the recent additions of several casino hotels this perception is quickly changing.

There are several hotel options for visitors to Las Vegas’ North Strip, one of which was the six acre Clarion Hotel and Casino.

Formerly the Greek Isles Hotel and Casino and the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Hotel, The Clarion was a hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Conveniently located at the north end of the Vegas Strip, the hotel first opened its doors in 1970 and had seen a number of owners.

However, the doors were closed after the Labor Day weekend in 2014. If you wanted to visit Las Vegas, but the resorts on the Strip were too pricey for you, then the Clarion Hotel and Casino would have been the hotel you needed.

The Hotel

Accommodations at the Clarion Hotel and Casino came in the form of tastefully appointed guest rooms for a comforting and tranquil stay. The hotel’s 202 air-conditioned guestrooms created a friendly environment that blended perfectly with the personal service and spectacular panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip from the rooms.

Clarion’s rooms were 350 square feet and ranged from standard Queens nonsmoking and smoking, to Deluxe Queen rooms. Each room was thoughtfully decorated in light earth tones and had spacious floor plans, floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the city and all the comforts of home.

As a guest of this hotel, you would enjoy your preference of one queen or two queen pillow top beds with premium bedding and a range of select amenities, including a coffee maker, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, cable TV as part of the entertainment options, phone system with data ports, and blackout curtains for extra comfort.

Each of the hotel’s room had a private bathroom with a shower and tub combination and featured complimentary toiletries and hair dryers.

After a night on the town or a day on the Strip, you could take a dive or unwind and relax by the indoor pool and whirlpool. There was also a well-equipped fitness center available for guests who wanted to stay in shape throughout their stay.

If you wanted live shows and entertainment, then you would be pleased with the nightly shows in one of the three theaters, including the popular Shades of Sinatra show. Plenty of laughs could be enjoyed in the Karaoke lounge. The Clarion also had its own wedding chapel, so you could easily tie the knot during your stay.

Food & Drink

When you’re ready to dine, there is only one restaurant at the Clarion Hotel and Casino. The hotel’s restaurant served delicious breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and would keep your stomach full without emptying your pockets.

There was also a coffee shop where you could relax over your favorite beverage and room service was available during limited hours. The hotel’s convenient location on The Strip meant that you would be close to a range of restaurants for additional dining options.

You could even enjoy a cocktail and wind down at the end of the day with your favorite drink at the hotel’s 24-hour bar and lounge.

The Casino

The Clarion Hotel didn’t fall behind in the casino department either. The hotel featured a 7,000 square foot casino floor with 102 slot machines, including Wheel of Fortune and MegaBucks.

Unlike other slots on the Strip, the hotel’s slot machines were friendlier in terms of pay outs, so you would have had a much better odds at winning at this casino. There were also a range of other games available for you to try your luck at.

A Final Word

Without a doubt, the biggest draws for this Las Vegas casino were its friendly staff and great value accommodations, which was an ideal choice for anyone traveling on a budget. The Clarion’s location on The Strip didn’t seem to hurt either, since you wouldn’t be too far from all the hot spots of Vegas.

This meant that after the desert sun sets, and The Strip came alive with all the brightly lit neon signs, giant displays and spectacular shows, you could take in all the action of this popular hub.

The hotel would also put you in close proximity to the Wynn, Riviera, Trump Towers, Sky Las Vegas, Circus Circus, the Showcase Mall, Thomas and Mack, the theatres, Sands Expo, the Fashion Show mall with its world-class retail shops and designer boutiques and the Las Vegas Convention Center.
